Okay, I officially want kitty's metabolism. Eat lard, sleep 22 hours a day and stay tiny?

Very recent, she is a tiny kitty. I can feed her lard and she will still be small. Lindsay wants to have a big fat kitty and is sad because Kitty isn't getting big. Cracks me up to because she is the laziest cat. She will sleep all day, but if I go to bed, she will come right in there lay down with me and go to sleep some more.

You have a TICA cat (The International Cat Association), I had CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) cats.
It's a long and not to nice story about some politics in CFA during the 1970s when Breeders were first trying to get Maine Coons reconized as a breed and not a barn cat from Maine.
Some Maine Coon breeders in Texas didn't like CFA (because CFA judges expected you to give your cat a bath before you brought them to the show and they didn't want their cats to become fancy like a flat faced Persian) so they started their own club. Bottom line is that the TICA and CFA breeders have different ideas of what a Maine Coon should look like.
For pet buyers none of this is important.
You have a wonderfull Maine Coon who loves you and makes you happy. That is all that counts.
Pretty cats - hadn't heard of the breed 'til Trav mentioned 'em a few years back. We had a Persian when I was a kid, pretty and normal looking. We went to a cat show to see what champion Persians looked like and were really turned off by the pan faced look, wazzup wi dat?

A few breeds that this has happened to are the Persian and the Siamese. At one time both of these cats were good looking animals, not any more.Originally posted by LanDroid:

The Persian standard calls for a flat face. When this was written, a flat face meant a short stubby muzzle, probably like LANs cat. Now to win Persians faces are so flat that they have breathing problems.
What should have happened is that the standard provides proportional lengths of the muzzle to the distance between the eyes or something like that. That way a large cat and a small cat could both be competitive. But that would take all the politics out of the Judging.
I just heard from the vet. The new cat is about a year and a half, negative for feline aids and leukemia, and will be neutered and declawed today.
Tomorrow the real fun will begin when we introduce him into the household.
If, by any chance, he is not received well, I could be pursuaded to take him off your hands. I told Katie that IF I could find an orange tabbie, male , I would take it.
Red Tabby. Red Red Red.
Color of cats 101:
Cats come in only three colors, brown, black and red. Everything else is the result of the Tabby pattern gene, dilute gene or the white spotting gene.
Cat Colors
Like I told GAE last night, I know way to much about cats to be a bad ass biker.
RED???? It sure does look ORANGE to me - but I will take the RED tabbie if he is not well received by the other cat. See???? I am "flexible".
